How it Works
The Gear Index is a free, nonprofit serial number registry for high-value gear. Here's everything you need to know.
Register your gear
Register your instruments, cameras, tools, and more with their serial numbers before anything happens. It takes two minutes and it's free.
Report it stolen
If gear is stolen, mark it in your dashboard. It immediately appears in the stolen registry and anyone can find it by serial number.
Pawn shops check the registry
Participating shops verify serials before buying. Stolen gear gets flagged at the point of sale.
Get contacted if it surfaces
If someone finds your gear and checks the registry, they can contact you anonymously through the site. Your personal info is never shared.
